Frequently asked questions
Short answers about circles, money, and how Kameti fits in.
What is a kameti?
A kameti (also called beesi, chit, or committee) is a rotating savings arrangement: a group of people agree to contribute the same amount every month, and each month one member receives the whole pot. The circle ends when every member has received the pot exactly once.
Is Kameti a chit fund company?
No. Kameti is a technology platform that helps private circles of friends and family keep records of their own arrangement. We do not conduct, manage, or promote chits, we never hold or pool member money, and payments go directly between members. See our Kameti and chit funds page for details.
How much does Kameti cost?
Nothing. Kameti charges no fees and takes no cut of any pot. The app is free; the money in a circle moves directly from member to member.
Who can join a circle?
Circles are invite-only. An existing member shares an invite link with people they know and trust — there is no public marketplace of strangers.
How are payments made?
Directly between members, by UPI or cash. The app records who has paid each round and confirms it to the whole circle, but the money itself never touches Kameti.
What happens if someone misses a payment?
The app tracks missed payments and reminds the member automatically, so the organiser never has to chase anyone by hand. Persistent defaulters are visible to the whole circle, and the group decides how to handle it — exactly as circles always have.
When does Kameti launch?
Kameti is in private testing. Join the waitlist and we will invite you as circles open in your city.
How is my data handled?
We collect the minimum needed to run your circle and your account, we never sell data, and contact details you leave on this site are deleted on a 90-day schedule. The privacy policy has the details.
