Privacy policy

Kameti is built to record private savings circles, not to harvest people. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how long we keep it. It is written in plain language on purpose.

Who we are

Kameti ("we", "us") operates the Kameti mobile app and the kameti.in website. We are the data controller for the personal data described below. Contact: support@kameti.in.

What we collect

Account data

Your mobile number (used to sign in) and, if you choose to add them, your name and UPI ID so other circle members can pay you.

Circle data

The circles you organize or join: contribution amounts, round schedules, payment confirmations, and member lists. Circle members can see this data for their own circle — that is the point of a shared ledger.

Identity verification

For features that require verified identity, verification is performed by a regulated third-party partner. We store only masked identifiers (such as a masked ID number) and a cryptographic hash — never the full document image.

Website forms (this site)

If you join the waitlist or contact us, we store the details you submit (email or phone, and your message), the time, and a hashed (pseudonymised) IP address used only to rate-limit abuse. These records are deleted automatically after 90 days, or earlier on your request.

Technical data

Standard app diagnostics: crash reports and coarse service logs needed to keep the service running and secure.

What we never do

• We never sell your data — to anyone, ever.
• We never see or touch the money in your circle; payments move directly between members over UPI or in cash.
• We never use your contacts unless you explicitly pick a share action (for example, sharing an invite link).
• We never show advertising.

Why we process data (lawful bases)

To provide the service you asked for (your account and circles — performance of a contract), to keep the service safe and prevent abuse (our legitimate interests), and to comply with applicable law. We ask consent where it is required, and you can withdraw it.

Where data lives and who helps us

Data is stored on cloud infrastructure in India or equivalent safeguards apply. We use a small number of processors: cloud hosting, crash reporting, SMS/OTP delivery, identity verification (a regulated partner), and web infrastructure (Cloudflare). Each is bound by contract to process data only on our instructions.

How long we keep it

Account and circle records: for as long as your account is active, then deleted on request or after a prolonged period of inactivity. Website form submissions: 90 days. Backups: rolled forward on our providers' standard schedules.

Your choices and rights

You can access, correct, export, or delete your data, and object to or restrict processing. Write to support@kameti.in and we will action requests within a reasonable time. Deleting your account removes your personal data; circle records you participated in may be retained in anonymised or member-held form because other members' ledgers include them.

Children

Kameti is not for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We will post any change to this policy on this page and, for material changes, notify app users in the app before it takes effect.
